Many homeowners or renters are stumped when it comes to decorating the walls. Rather than only consider hanging pictures, there are a lot of options for decorating the space. Looking over the different options and the latest trends in decor will help an individual choose the right design for their home. A lot of people want to try out something unique, that still looks great with the existing decoration. Staying patient while looking over different wall decor trends is crucial in finding the right choice.

Hanging Up Empty Frames
When hanging up frames, people are often overwhelmed with what pictures to use. A new trend that has been showing up in a lot of homes is the use of empty frames. While it may sound strange to hang empty frames, it can actually create a very interesting focal point. Arranging an array of similarly styled frames or mixing and matching can look wonderful. Some people like opting for unique frames, while others want a uniform color and style present.

Using Chalkboard Paint for Walls
While chalkboards may seem out of style, using chalkboard paint is becoming increasingly popular. This paint can be found pretty affordable and can transform a boring wall to something very interactive. From drawing out a weekly calendar or allowing children to draw what they want, a chalkboard wall can look great. Painting an entire wall from floor to ceiling with chalkboard paint can look unique and mix well with a variety of decor.

Magnetic Strips for a Fun Look
A lot of people love the look of hanging pictures, important papers, and more onto their walls. Painting a large strip of a wall with magnetic paint can be a great way to make the most out of a large space. Families with children or a busy schedule are sure to love the convenience of having a magnetic wall. Whether a large chunk of the wall is painted, circles, or a long strip, the a magnetic wall can look great.

Fun and Unique Wallpaper
Many people have the assumption that wallpaper is out of style. While this is true in some cases, using fun graphics can make a big impact in a room. Selecting a wallpaper with an interesting pattern or color can make a room look designed by a professional. Wallpaper doesn’t have to look like it belongs in outdated homes. Using a fun and punchy graphic can make an interesting focal point that guests will be sure to comment on. Hanging wallpaper on just one wall is a good idea for creating a unique focal point without being overwhelming.

Maps as Decorative Focal Points
Along with the educational aspect, hanging maps can look very interesting. There are plenty of options in colors and styles. Some homes may look wonderful with a very vintage look to the maps, while other homes may want a pop of color in their map. Hanging a large map of the world can make a fun focal point that transforms a room almost instantly. Whether a full sized map of the world is being hung or a map focusing on just one country, these pictures can help fill out an empty wall without much effort.

Decorating an empty wall is so important when trying to create a nice ambiance in a room. While some homes need something traditional like empty frames hung, others may look great with exciting graphics. Choosing an interesting type of wall decor will help fill up an empty wall. Keeping in mind the existing decor and resources available will help an individual choose the best wall decor that is on-trend and fitting for their home.

When it comes to home decorating fossils are growing in popularity. Large display fossil pieces, tile inlays, and table ware are just a few ways that fossils are showing up in homes and offices around the world.

At the recent Denver Fossil, Gem, and Mineral Show I couldn’t help but listen with wonder as dealer after dealer reported the furious buying of large fossil specimens for Japanese homes and businesses. It seems that the Japanese are not only fascinated with these ancient relics, they want them for art pieces for home decorating.

One dealer reported that he had received an amazing figure for a reconstructed fish from the Green River Formation near Kemmerer, Wyoming. The specimen had been found in a quarry, prepared by a second party, purveyed by a third and will eventually be delivered to its new Japanese home. A great deal for all parties!

Artists, too, are benefiting from the Japanese excitement over fossils. An artist who regularly uses ammonites and orthoceras in her objects d’arte creations recently told us she had been approached by a Japanese dealer who was negotiating to buy 50 of her art pieces.

Fossil Table Ware

Americans are putting another spin on fossil art. Besides the many wonderful display items that come from Morocco, there are plates and serving bowls that will be decorating many dinner tables throughout the United States. These unique pieces add a warm earthiness to the meal; and their colors are as yummy as the culinary dishes they serve up!

Large Display Pieces

Continue this earthy motif to the living room. There you’ll find coffee and end tables carved and polished from the black and white, orthoceras-filled matrix that comes from Moroccan deserts. Plaques of specimens come in all sizes and include specimens ranging from ancient trilobites and brittlestars to polished ammonites and orthoceras. Prices have a wide range, too, so watch out! If you take the time to shop around, you can find some great deals!

Fossil Counter Tops, And Fossil Tiles

Recently a new craze in “permanent decorating” is also making the scene in the U.S. Concrete kitchen counters are known for their easy durability and beauty. But inlay them with fossil ammonites and you have a counter that is out of this world beautiful AND one-of-a-kind! Bathroom tiles set with orthoceras create a memory of the watery environment these ancient creatures called home.

If you are a fossil-lover and just can’t find one more empty space to add to your collection, think about these new alternatives for home decorating. Who knows? You may “invent” the next new fossil decorating craze!

Homes will have a more personal look for instance family heirlooms, a piece of artwork and anything else that will make the interior design unique and personalized. To fade out the cold nature of technology personal items that carry the home owner’s memories and sentiments will play a huge role in decorating ideas. Small homes usually focus on comfort and meaningful details that have a personal touch and a story behind it.

A hot new trend for coming years will be environmental friendly interior design. Homes will have more environmentally sound designs and built with eco friendly materials. There will be a burst of light as people will place more importance on sunlight and use decorative elements that reflect nature. Home owners should keep updated on new environmental innovations and ideas, which can be in turn incorporated at home.
